Wasa-aaap!

Last year I had one of my favorite experiences: camping with my friends Ace, Morgan, and Ryan. Morgan I had known ages ago, but probably hadn't seen for at least 7 years at that point. When we saw each other, we picked up right where we left off, if not in a better place.

Anyhow, that pleasure aside, he took us up to this camping spot around Wasa Lake. This time, I had the opportunity to share it with Aaron, but first off we stopped up in Jasper to check out the glaciers and camp at the base, then headed to Fairmont for some hotsprings, and then ended up in Wasa.

Morganic.

After last year's camping experience with Morgan, Ace, and Ryan - one of my favorite memories to date, I thought I'd fly myself out to Vancouver this summer and spend some more time with Morgan.

I landed in Vancouver and it turned into a pretty wild night at a house party filled with things even my explanations and photos would do no justice.

Then I spent a few days catching up with old friends.

Ewan.

Then our journey began. A lot of it wasn't documented, but we did hit a drive-in theatre on the way out of Vancouver. The next morning we woke up in a hot hot van (which we parked in an industrial park) and headed to the town of Hope (home of Rambo!), and then off down Othello road for a bit of jumpin' and tunnel explorin'.

Gotta love my underwater case for the fisheye camera.

There's this great medicinal lake that is just outside of Vancouver that is spotted. We stopped to pick some sage to dry for later.

Then we slowly made it through the Okanogan, where we did a lot of fruit picking and lounging.

Eventually it was time to head even further east, making our way back to Calgary. We camped at a few spots, trying to catch a Relvis show (red elvis.. get it?).

With all the forest fires going on in BC a lot of the camping spots and roads were closed down, so we took the opportunity to go in search of a ghost town. Although we were completely unsuccessful, the drive was nerve racking and totally grounding.

This is where we finally decided to call it quits.

I have no photographic proof of where we stayed that night, but it was pretty incredible. We were driving along the highway and decided to pull off on a back road that headed towards the river to find a place to stop for the night. After about 2 minutes of driving, the next thing I saw was a white picket fence with Christmas lights on it. About 3 trailers had parked there, and had been parked there for a few summers now - it's their summer home. BC version of cottages? Everyone was welcoming, and we just fit right in.

The next morning was time to head to Calgary. This is how beautiful the drive is.

Toxic

The cake tasted toxic but I made it anyways. The pizza was better.

Dead Snow

It's a true rarity when I have the pleasure of going out with my brother Albert. He managed to pick up some tickets to the viewing of Dead Snow (Nazi zombie movie, how can you go wrong?). We landed in Toronto from Calgary that morning, managed to rummage up some costumes, and got done up to head to the theatre. Great movie.

Blue Hawaii

After finishing 3 years of naturopathic school, I decided I would reward myself with a trip to Hawaii for a total of $600.00. It was pretty awesome. I flew into the island of Kauai, spent some time beach bummin', high rollin' in our beach front condo, and free loadin' from the Hyatt Resort.

A spent quite a few hours every morning with some drinks watching the gigantic turtles just lazing their way to breakfast (they let the tide carry them in and just grab seaweed as they bump into rocks when they can).

Then I set off to do a hike 11 mile in/11 mile out. It was one of the more stressful and scary events of my life, seeing as we were on 1000ft cliffs and unsteady paths. I was essentially hiking alone. But the scenery was like nothing I could ever describe, and I made it in and out alive.

A lot of my pictures were film, so you're spared from them. I'm goin back!

Medication Gardes and Fortune Tellers

On a lunch break at school I went out to the meditation gardens and Dillon just got two puppy huskies and they were playing outside. I melted.

Then I wet to go see Fortune Teller with a bunch of boys from the east coat.

Bests

One of the best parts of having a digital SLR is drawing with lights. I did this with the tail lights of the car ahead of us on the highway coming back from Ottawa. Bein' in love ain't so bad, either.

Biodome

I thought I would be leaving with a ring on my finger, but instead I just got to meet a wolf that made me really happy.
